How Do you serve Weddings?

We love to serve weddings. We know that getting ready for a wedding can be stressful, so we want ordering your wedding cake to be the simplest part of that process. That’s why we price everything transparently on the website and have a streamlined ordering process — you know exactly what you are getting from us and how much it will cost from the start. Doing that allows us to avoid charging the minimums or extra fees for weddings that many other shops do.

Do you Offer Design consultations?

We do not offer in-person design consultations, but we do make it easy to either pick from our most popular designs or quickly create your own custom cake. We offer:

  • Our signature cakes, which are already designed and can be lightly customized

  • Our custom cakes, which you can design yourself in a modular fashion, combining all the different design elements that we offer

How do tastings work?

We offer a tasting box on the website that you can order for either pickup or delivery. We understand that some people want to taste our flavors before committing to a large order or simply want to participate in the age-old tradition of having a cake tasting to break up the wedding planning journey. Others who would like to spare the extra expense often check our Yelp reviews so that they feel comfortable with the quality of our products. We do not offer in-person tastings.

How many cakes should I order?

Our largest cake size, the large three tier, serves up to 100 people. For receptions that require over 100 servings of cake, many of our customers have mostly one of the following two things:

  • Purchase a trio of decorated cakes to display at the reception, which altogether add up to the number of desired servings; this provides an impressive conversation piece for guests to appreciate

  • Purchase one decorated cake for the display and cake cutting and then supplement that with a number of large cakes with a smooth buttercream finish that are not displayed; this is a great way to be thrifty

How Does Delivery and Setup work?

First of all, it’s perfectly normal for customers to either pick up their wedding cakes from our kitchen themselves or to send someone from their wedding party. This is a great way to be thrifty, especially with so many helping hands on wedding day. We hand off all cakes in a white box that has a smooth, black ribbon that doubles as thee perfect carrying handle. We instruct customers to hold the cake from the handle and support from the bottom, being careful not to squeeze the sides of the box. We also help position the cake in the customer’s car to keep the cake safe.

For one- and two-tier cakes, we deliver with a very reliable courier service to deliver the cake to your venue. The courier hands the cake off to the contact you provide us with, which is often a worker from the venue, a wedding coordinator, or the caterer. The caterer will set up the cake for display, if that is in the plan for the reception.

For three-tier cakes, Butter& employees deliver and set up the cake personally at your venue. That’s because three-tier cakes are quite large and can be intimidating if you have not handled them before. One- and two-tier cakes, on the other hand, are very easy to handle.
